Working at ID+A has been wonderful! I arrived on monday morning and was greeted, with hugs, by the three lovely ladies that work in the Lexington office. I spent part of the morning learning the office and how things operated at the firm. I talked with two of the women about their current projects, and their timeline on those. Then, I sat in on a team meeting between the lexington team members and the louisville showroom, via conference call. The purpose of the meeting is to check up on the status of current projects between the teams, but a lot of discussion was very business oriented, invoices, deliveries, statements, etc. It was nice to get a glimpse into a different side of the design world.
For the remainder of day one and part of day two I delved into actual design. I helped on of my team members working on a project for offices for a senior home care center and recreated a floor plan in CAD based off of an existing plan. Later in the week I will be able to go back to that project and use another program, V-Axis, to import the office furniture!
ID+A has such a great office environment and I am loving getting to know their employees and design in real life!
